"Draw me like one of your French girls: the remix"

A little background story:

It was January 2025, and I had been stuck in a creative rut for more than a year. The art organization I had previously exhibited with invited me to showcase again. I said yes, figuring I’d have plenty of time to create something new—while hoping this would be the spark I needed.

Fast forward to a week and a half before the show—zero progress. Just me, staring at blank canvases, debating whether to bail or pull a classic Procrastinator Bell and bang something out last minute. But nothing was sparking.

So I took a step back and asked myself what first lit the fire for me as an artist. I thought of a drawing I made in 2018—one that really shifted things for me.
And then I wondered: what if I tried painting it?

Back then, I was so intimidated by color—black and white charcoal was my comfort zone. So revisiting that piece now, in full color, felt like such a full-circle moment.

Not gonna lie though, this one gave me hell. I repainted it at least five times trying to get the colors right. But I’m glad I stuck with it (and made that emergency Blick run for better paint hahaha).

Happy to reintroduce:
